Pace loved the pool, and after catching the frisbee five or six times in a row, he would jump in it and lie down for a few minutes.

On this particular night, Pace went outside to use the bathroom for the last time before bed. As he walked past the pool on the patio, out of the corner of his eye he saw something dart through the water.
It wasn't on top of the water like the insects he would sometimes see in the pool. No, whatever this was, it was at the bottom of the pool, and it was much bigger than any insect he'd ever seen.
Now Pace was a curious dog, but he could be quite cautious when he needed to be. He figured this was one of those times when he needed to be. He walked up to the edge of the pool very slowly and peered over the top. There wasn't anything moving, but he could tell there was something at the bottom.
Then, once he was cool enough, he would stand up, shake off, and try to get someone to start throwing the frisbee with him again.
