SKINKS

On one side of our yard we have a tall retaining wall made of railroad ties.  This is evidently a great habitat for skinks (five-lined skinks, I believe) because we have several that live in the railroad ties.  Often they'll chase each other around the wall and sometimes get in fights that end with one skink either being thrown off the wall or jumping off on his own.  During mating season, the males' heads turn bright orange.
