YELLOW JACKETS
For those of you afraid of stinging insects, I put some soothing music on this video. The first year we were in our house, I found these yellow jackets living inside a railroad tie in a retaining wall. The end of the railroad tie is exposed and has a hole through the middle of it. I guess they had a nest somewhere deep inside. I actually thought these were honey bees at first, and I got a lot closer to them than I would have if I'd known they were yellow jackets. I don't know how I didn't get stung. After this year, we never saw them again, and I'm OK with that.
