This is our first monarch caterpillar ever. It's eating Butterfly Milkweed (Asclepias tuberosa). Milkweed is the only plant Monarch butterflies will lay their eggs on. It contains a toxin that when eaten by the caterpillars makes them toxic to birds if they try to eat them. This video switches to time lapse in the middle.
