We found these guys on 7/8/07 in a small fountain/pond I put in our yard this spring.  My best guess is that they're American Toads.  We had seen toads in amplexus not long before this, but we'd never noticed any egg strands in the water.  The water had gotten pretty dirty, though.  Here's a picture of the first one we saw make it out onto land -- he's sitting on a dime.  You can click on it for a larger image.
