This is part 1 of 3 videos of this Monarch caterpillar pupating.  In this video the caterpillar's outer skin splits at the head, which is at the bottom of the screen, and is pushed to the top, revealing the outer skin of the chrysalis.  The twitching you see at the beginning of the video can go on for several minutes before the skin splits.  What you see in this video took only 4 or 5 minutes in real time.  In part 2, the chrysalis is having a difficult time shaking the old skin off, so I intervene, but only because of special circumstances.
