I found this baby mockingbird Friday morning when I was getting ready to leave for work. The video tells the story, so I'll just make these points:
1. It is NOT true that handling a baby bird will make the parents abandon it. Birds don't have much of a sense of smell.
2. If you find a baby bird without its feathers, it is always best to return it to the nest. If it has all its feathers, it's probably learning to fly and should be left alone.
3. It is illegal to raise a wild bird without a permit. If a bird truly needs medical attention, contact a local wildlife rehabilitation center.
