These moths are regularly mistaken for very small hummingbirds because of the way they look when they're hovering and darting from flower to flower to get nectar.  I believe this is a Snowberry Clearwing Moth, but there are other moths that look similar to this one.  Right now they're constantly on our white butterfly bushes, one of those rare non-native plants that has a lot of value for native wildlife.
